Geographical
Situations
Located in the Lanyang plain of Ilan County, in the northeast of the Taiwan Island, the service area of I.I.A. is characterized with warm climate as it faces the Pacific Ocean in the east and bordered by mountains in the west. The average annual temperature is 21.8oC; and annual rainfalls, 3,000mm. The wet season falls in winter, and dry season in July through September. If there is no typhoon or storm in dry seasons, part of this area will suffer from water shortage. The Lanyang plain gradually descends from the west to the east with the Lanyang river running through to the Pacific Ocean. In part of the coastal area, the ground surface is low and hence inundated as large as 4,000 ha. Therefore, drainage is taken in a par with irrigation undertakings. |
